The Meaning of “Independence is Happiness”

When Susan B. Anthony famously declared that “independence is happiness”, she was referring to the idea that freedom from oppression and injustice can lead to true joy and contentment. To her, independence meant being able to live one’s life without fear or interference from oppressive forces; it meant having the liberty to pursue whatever dreams one desired and make decisions based on personal values rather than external pressures.
